A Summer Rain

The summer rite of rhythmic rain
Beats the drum of earth

Lightening as a raised-up vein
Fills the sky with mirth

Nearing thunder as a train
Connects the clouded berth

Awakens me to ascertain
The mystery of man’s worth

As lilies of the field explain
Who flourish with new birth
