Creation Song
“The world is charged with the grandeur of God…”
Gerard Manley Hopkins
Raised are the palms of maple leaves,
Gently swaying in the breeze.
A dragonfly goes darting by:
The flash of blue transparent wings.
Violet, pink, and yellow gems –
Bend towards me on regal stems.
So I sit and cast my gaze
On creation’s inviting maze.
The lake reflects the sun’s delight –
Stratus clouds sail out of sight.
The breeze it fades and all is still –
Except the inkling of my will:
Like the pine across the way,
I will stand within my day –
Roots in revelation,
Casting illumination.
