One Step Closer

Last week we told you we were in meetings that could determine what we'll be doing for the next years. We've received lots of emails and IM's from friends asking how things turned out. Thank you so much for even caring about us (and especially for praying).

Although we've been asked to keep certain information under wraps until the project is publicly announced, what I can tell you is that we are definitely one step closer to a collaborating on a project that seems to fit our passions and abilities perfectly. It would allow us to continue working in Latin America training youth workers and coordinating our youth ministry website while also taking advantage of our interest in mentoring and creative forms of education.

The meeting itself went well. The consultant was experienced and skilled. The process he lead us through helped us get to know our potential partners and the project better. The goals and philosophy behind it resonated with us...we've been thinking in this same direction for a few years. The four of us agreed on nearly every significant point.

However, there are still significant questions to consider, like how this would fit into the larger strategy and personnel structure of our organization, OC International.

If all goes well, in the near future we will be able to tell you all about this exciting new adventure God seems to be allowing us to be a part of.

We Need Your Help

Tuesday and Wednesday we will be in meetings that - depending on their outcome - will determine how and where we will be working during the next years. Obviously the next 48 hours are significant. For this reason, it would mean a lot if you would pray for us.

I can't give you many details yet because the project we're being invited to be a part of has not been publicly announced yet. But I can say that it has to do with a strategy for in-depth training of youth leaders in Latin America. Sounds right up our alley, doesn't it?

As soon as we know anything, we'll let you know... but feel free to remind us in case we forget ;-)

Human Media Factory

Annette recently finished the manuscript of her book....a kind of autobiography and ecclesiology mashup. If you're interested, she'll send you the 50 page manuscript by email, free of charge ;-) (Though she will be hoping for some comments in exchange.)

Here's what a friend wrote after reading it:

Hey Annette,
I am on a plane to New Hampshire, and have just finished reading your manuscript. It is absolutely wonderful. I began reading it, intending to be mindful of giving you specific feedback and joining the conversation, but to tell you the truth, I just got absolutely lost in it. And I ended up reading it purely for my own enjoyment, because I just couldn't help myself.
A by-product of her writing is an abundance of content for Annette's other blog, pre-text. It features quotes from sources ranging from Tolstoy and Jesus to Paste and WIRED magazines.

It could be her newfound appreciation for coffee, but something motivated Annette to start a photo documentary of 2007. Most people would buy a scrapbook, but since we like to travel light and bring our friends along, Annette is creating something interactive, online and free. Photos and Updates

Christmas happened. Then January got lost somewhere between New Years and the beginning of February. And we kinda let blogging slip.

But we've got a few free days in our schedule so you'll soon be overdosing on our blog (it's slightly less detrimental to your health than sniffing rubber cement).
